The Ordinary of New Kent and Bassett’s Tavern properties include The Ordinary (Main House), The Martin House, and The James Armistead Lafayette Cottage.
Guests may host a private event, rehearsal dinner, wedding, or family reunion for an additional fee. Please inquire on our website about hosting a private event at The New Kent Ordinary.
In the Main house, The Ordinary offers five bedrooms, each with a private en suite bath and shower, two king-sized, two queen-sized, and dual twin bedrooms. The Ordinary has Bassetts Tavern on the first floor with an honor system bar and (8) sitting tables and chairs for up to (20) guests. Upstairs has a parlor and dining room along with two porches.
The Martin House has a King Size bed, kitchen, sitting area, and dining table with a balcony. A view of the horses is a great place to enjoy an evening beverage or morning coffee.
The James Armistead Lafayette Cottage is ideal for a family. It has two bathrooms on the first floor, a queen-sized bed, a full-size bed upstairs, and two twins.
The homes are all close together, with plenty of room to enjoy yard games or the quiet of the rural setting. It is perfect for golf outings, family gatherings, local wine tastings, and local weddings.
Quaint historic downtown location with restaurants and activities within walking distance. Minutes to 5 local breweries and wineries. Minutes to Colonial Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. 10 rated Golf Courses in New Kent and Williamsburg.

The New Kent Ordinary, Martin House and James Armistead Lafayette Cottage are a unique historical experience with a rural setting.  All buildings are beautifully restored with all of the modern amenities.  With travel of only 20 miles to Williamsburg and 30 to Richmond we are a convenient hotel within your travel destinations.  We are perfect for a large group that wants to rent all three properties.  Â
